Matt Cain allowed 3 runs in 4.2 IP and the Giants lineup went down quietly as we enter the dog days of spring training. Key Lines:
Nick Hundley C- 2 for 3. BA= .308. Hundley was the only Giant in the lineup with 2 hits. The rest of the lineup managed just 4.
Matt Cain RHP- 4.2 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 5 K's, GO/AO= 5/0. ERA= 8.40. If you squint hard, you can see a bit of progress here. The K/BB looks good as well as the GB rate. 9 hits is a lot to give up in just 4.2 IP, though.
Mark Melancon RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K. ERA= 0.00. Another boring appearance by Melancon and we like it that way!
Will Smith LHP- 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K. ERA= 0.00. A Will Smith sighting! Having him pitch this early and last a whole inning is great news! Outside chance he'll be ready by Opening Day. Smith is a major key to this bullpen, IMO.
