Game Wrap 9/12/2016: Padres 4 Giants 0

After a promising series in Arizona, the Giants offense went ice cold again while Hector Sanchez came back to haunt the Giants with 3 hits and a 2-run dinger.  Key Lines:

Jeff Samardzija- 6 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 4.07.  Samardzija had great looking stuff.  Threw hard, good command, mixed his pitches.  He got BABIP'd for a couple of runs and hung an offspeed pitch that Hector waited on just long enough to pull it onto the short porch just inside the RF foul pole.  We don't see very many of those because the wind usually either knocks them down or blows them foul, but there wasn't much wind and Hector did a great job of staying back on the pitch.

Steven Okert- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 3.72.  Okert again had great looking stuff and dominated his inning.  He may be moving up the lefty reliever depth chart.

Matt Reynolds- 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 2.08.  Reynolds looked good and gives Bochy yet another lefty option in the pen.

Matt Cain- 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 5.63.  Cainer came in to get the final out.  I have to say he didn't look too thrilled to find himself in that role.

The Dodgers best the Yankees 8-2 so the Giants fall 4 games behind in the NL West.  The Cardinals and Mets both lost so the Giants stay 1.5 games ahead of the Mets in the race for the first Wild Card Playoff spot and 2 game ahead of the Cards for the second spot.

Albert Suarez tries to get the Giants back on track and even the series tonight facing a resurgent lefty, Clayton Richard.
