Down on the Farm: 7/8/2016

AAA  Sacramento River Cats defeated the Tacoma Rainiers 7-4:

Gorkys Hernandez CF- 1 for 3, SF.  BA= .302.
Andrew Susac C- 2 for 4, 2B, HR(3).  BA= .250.
Chris Denorfia LF- 2 for 4.  BA= .154.
Rando Moreno SS- 2 for 3, 3B.  BA= .298.
Matt Cain RHP- 5.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K's, GO/AO= 9/2.  ERA= 3.18.

Susac is hitting .350 over his last 10 games.  With Brownie seemingly entrenched as the backup C, is Susac a potential trade chip?  I just know Chris Denorfia is going to be on the active roster after the ASG, and I'm not sure I'm happy about that.  He does stand in the RH batter's box, but I'm not sure you would call him a RH bat.  Matt Cain is on track to return to his rotation slot after the All-Star Break.  Due to a couple of off days plus the break, he can get another rehab start in then slot into the rotation on turn.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels edged out the Trenton Thunder 2-1:

Christian Arroyo SS- 2 for 4.  BA= .276.
Andrew Suarez LHP- 7.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 5.46.

2 QS in succession for Suarez who got off to a rough start in AA.

High A  San Jose Giants beat the Stockton Ports 11-7:

Ronnie Jebavy CF- 3 for 5, HR(7), SB(16).  BA= .255.
Robbie Garvey LF- 3 for 4, 2B, Sac.  BA= .258.
Jonah Arenado 1B- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .270.
Daniel Carbonell DH- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .258.
Ty Ross C- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .228.
Jordan Johnson RHP- 4.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 9 K's.  ERA= 4.93.

Jebavy is hitting .381 over his last 10 games and is heading toward double digits in HR and SB.  Arenado picks the pace back up after an 0 for 4 on 7/7.  He's hitting .341 over his last 10 games.  Jordan Johnson continues a pattern of stronger peripherals than ERA's.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets downed the Columbia Fireflies 8-7:

Miguel Gomez DH- 1 for 3, 2 BB.  BA= .372.
Skyler Ewing 1B- 2 for 5, HR(2).   BA= .231.
Jean Angomas RF- 3 for 5, 3B.  BA= .213.
Johneshwy Fargas CF- 2 for 5.  BA= .274.
Richard Amion SS- 3 for 4.  BA= .224.

I don't recall Amion playing SS before.  Fargas is hitting .308 over his last 10 games.

Short Season Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped the Vancouver Canadians 8-6(regularly scheduled game, 7 innings:

Ashford Fulmer RF- 1 for 4, HR(1).  BA= .407.
Gio Brusa LF- 1 for 2, HR(1), SF.  BA= .400.
John Riley C- 2 for 3, HR(1).  BA= .362.
Kevin Rivera 2B- 2 for 2, 2B, BB.  BA= .338.
Kendry Melo RHP- 3.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 3.07.
Cesar Yanez RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, S(2).  ERA= 0.77.

Fulmer's dinger was a grand slam.  Kevin Rivera is enjoying something of a breakout season, although he has run hot and cold in the past.

Short Season Vancouver Canadians pounded the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 9-3(makeup game from 7/7, 7 innings):

Gio Brusa DH- 1 for 3, HR(2), BB.  BA= .394.
Kevin Rivera 2B- 2 for 3.  BA= .351.
CJ Gettman RHP- 2.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 6.00.
Rayan Hernandez RHP- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 0.82.

I thought Brusa was a steal in the draft.  So far, he's living up to that.

Rookie AZL  Giants outscored the Rangers 9-6:

Roger "Woody" Edwards RF- 3 for 5, 2 SB(5).  BA= .346.
Jacob Heyward DH- 2 for 3 2B, BB, 2 SB(2).  BA= .667.
Nathanael Javier 3B- 2 for 4.  BA= .280.
Stephen Woods RHP- 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 2.70.
Sandro Cabrera LHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 4.00.
Jacob Greenwalt RHP- 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 3.38.

Edwards was listed as Woody Edwards in the boxscore for the first time I can remember.  He's still Roger Edwards on the bio page.  How about Jacob Heyward's start?  It's an SEC college draftee playing in rookie ball, though.

Ismael Munguia LF- 2 for 5.  BA= .345.
Diego Rincones RF- 2 for 4, 2B, BB, SB(1).  BA= .301.
