Game Wrap 4/24/2016: Marlins 5 Giants 4

The Giants couldn't keep the line moving enough today and scored just 4 runs despite getting 18 runners on base.  The left 111 on, erased 3 more on GIDP's and fell short of a series sweep against the Marlins as JT Realmuto hit a late HR of Josh Osich for the game winner.  Key Lines:

Angel Pagan LF- 2 for 5.  BA= .333.  Pagan continues to pepper the field with hits.  He also GIDP'd with the bases loaded and nobody out and he also lost a ball in the sun with his sunglasses up on his cap.  I guess with Pagan, you take the good with the bad.  Leave it to Baggs to point out the bad.

Joe Panik- 2 for 5, 3B.  BA= .267.  Panik was 5 for 13 for the series.

Hunter Pence- 2 for 4, HR(3), BB.  BA= .260.  Pence was 5 for 12 in the series.

Gregor Blanco- 2 for 3, BB.  BA= .320.  Blanco started in CF then moved to LF when Span stayed in the game after PH.

Matt Cain- 5.2 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 6.43.  Not pretty, but some signs of progress here, not the least of which he made it out of the 5'th inning without the wheels coming off.  He threw 99 pitches.  Maybe the stamina is building up?

The Loss, coupled with the Dodgers 12-10 win over the Rockies left the Giants in 4'th place, 3.5 games behind the NL West leaders.  The Rockies are 2.5 games back as are the D'Backs after they lost to the Pirates 12-10.  The Padres also lost to fall 5 games off the pace.

The Pesky Padres come to town tomorrow evening for the start of a 3 game series with Madison Bumgarner facing Drew Pomeranz who can be very tough when he's on.
